So what pingdom offer this time is free account that come with one check. You might ask what are checks ?

Checks means different kind of checking on pingdom, once you register your account, you can select what kind of check you want to perform on your site, you can do a normal http check for your blog, ping check to make sure the server connection always there or you can even do email check on SMTP/POP3/IMAP to make sure your mail server is not down.

If you think that 1 check is not enough or really feel like support pingdom or thinking to upgrade your pingdom account if you have multi site to check, you can choose to upgrade your account.

Personally i prefer pingdom to offer a few more combination of account, example if i don’t want the SMS , maybe i can trade it with more check ? a Basic account that come with 10 checks and no SMS might be more attractive ? If you still shopping for up time monitoring service, give pingdom a try, highly recommended.

So how does flickr2twitter work ? first add your twitter account on the usual blogs configuration page.

authenticate your twitter account through oauth, this will allow flickr to post photo to your twitter account. Just browse through your photo as usual, when you decide to post one particular photo, just select blog this.

you only allow to inset 116 char, because it reserve some space for the short url of the photo, the shorten url is using flic.kr domain, it seem like a special shorten url for flickr only.

that’s it, now i can see the tweets with the photo url showing on my twitter account, simple and straightforward. Simple interface + shorten url + big fan base , that’s why i say the rest of twitter photo sharing service is going to facing some problem, i wonder will there be stat to read on the flickr shorten url ?

Although Kas Thomas ( the blog owner) claim that he doesn’t have any inside info , but what he guessed was correct and here come Opera Untie – a Web server on the Web browser. So what actually Opera Untie does? It actually enables our opera browser to act as a web server and by some configuration; you will be able to start up different services easily. Services such as

• File sharing
• Media streaming
• Photo sharing
• Place to leave note
• Lounge to chit chat

I have tried configuring it and successfully chit chatting with some of my friends without any problem and I am able to leave notes on my friend’s Unite too. This is really cool.

We should expect to see lots of developments after this launch? It seems like you can just build something with html and javascript. I think this is a good strike back for Opera, which might really help Opera to regain their market share.

1. The new widget interface – i still recall the old interface always have problem to swap the widget between different location, especially for those theme framework which provide multiple widget, the new interface now allow you to just drag and drop in 1 full screen.

2. The new plugin management interface – i understand some user don’t really like this new interface, but personally i kind of like it, very detail description is display and it categorize into different group like recent active and inactive etc.

3. The Install new Theme interface – this is one of the interesting feature for this release, hook with the wordpress theme database. It allow you to install theme by just few button click and giving theme designer more chance to showcase their wonderful theme.

these are my top 3 favourite for wordpress2.8 , what’s your favourite features for this release ? did you upgrade already ?

So why am i giving up ?

• Time constraint -  Can’t keep up daily post , during the past 1 week , some time i m so tired after work yet need to squeeze out some time for this.
• Topic constraint – this related to next point , since i don’t have an establish site on squarespace , some of the feature is really hard to blog about.
• Goal – original i m having this self challenge because i m thinking to build a site on squarespace, now after some comparison, it seem like i m not going to use squaresapce for next project, it will be even more difficult for me to continue blog about it.
• Price – since i m not going to build a site on it  and my trial accont is expired soon, i will need to pay for it just for doing this challenge.

now i really respect those blogger that can complete those 30 days blogging challenge, anyway this give me some good experience.

i m thinking to get “knight” but it seem like is a reserve word, so i settle on “imknight” , yup you can visit me on http://facebook.com/imknight . It seem facebook have disable some of the feature to handle this land rush , the highlight section on the right seem like hidden during this period, other then this i can feel the update is slightly slower, even my own update take some time to show on my home page, but it show on my profile page immediately.

check out the twitter you can see lots of funny username appear and the problogger saga happen for the problogger username. If you haven’t grab your username , do it now ?

So how to setup this custom domain ?

there are 2 major thing you need to change on your domain registrars, i m using reseller club which provide free dns management. You need to change

• CNAME , setup www.domain.com CNAME as www.squarespace.com
• A record , setup domain.com A record as this ip 65.39.205.54

take note the different of www vs non-www, www is for CNAME and non-www is for A record

after that login your squarespace account , Website Management -> Structure -> Custom Domain , add your domain. After the domain added , you can just click on the check setup to make sure that your setting is correctly. If your setting is correct, this is what you will see.

What structure mode does in squarespace is allow you to add/edit/remove elements on the sites.

• Website header element take care of site title and site topic
• Website footer element will allow you to incert your copyright text , there are common creative generate button and standard copyright generate button for you to generate the footer.
• Navigation can be edit to add in new section, each section can be customize to display or to hide

One more thing that can be do on structure mode is to add a page. There are different page for you to add , each serve different purpose , you can have simple HTML page to add some static content or you can add the dropbox page to allow user to upload some file, it all depends how you design your site.

Once you are in Content Mode, things that you can do is all content related. There are 5 action that can be perform

• Post New Entry – which allow you to create a new post.
• Modify – edit any post in your view mode.
• Remove – delete any post and follow update.
• Organize – allow you to organize your post between journal.

Other then the standard boring form to create content, there are interesting feature that i like. Firstly there is this feature call “Post Follow Up”

it actually allow you to post as a follow up post on any post that you start with.It is quite useful when you updating the content, you update content date will be display too.Other then follow up post feature, the other interesting feature is the reference page on each post. What is reference use for ? is more like allow you to links sources, associated articles, and future content within one area. It can be Source, Response and Related .

this will be how the content display, quite a nice feature if you use this to build a site.
