So how to enable multile google calendar sync ? just swtich to the manage calendar page and select offline, you will see all the calendar in the listing, just check which calendar you want it to be offline sync.

after done the setting, just click on sync to make it sync again and all your selected calendar will be show in offline mode.

So what does offline sync means ? it actually sync with your desktop/notebook and allow you to access it without connection and what ever you done on the offline mode will be sync with the service when you connect back online, sounds like a great service right  ? but after i test it and find out the limitation is , Google calendar offline sync only allow you to sync ONE CALENDAR!

I think this happen also when they release the calendar sync with outlook, erm do you guys who using google calendar only use ONE CALENDAD ? for myself i have 6 calendar, each serve different purpose, with different color labeling, i feel in this way is more organize. Am i the only one using more then ONE CALENDAD? how many calendar you guys have on google calendar ?

P/S Just find out that i m wrong, Google calendar actually allow multiple calendar sync, is just that you need to setup.

1. It’s very troublesome to tag note as favourtite – evernote is not viewable in iphone apps during offline , unless you tag the note as your favourite note. So how you do that ? you need to go in a note , wait for it to load then you can mark it as favourite, there are no mass marking available and the desktop version of evernote application doesn’t support this.
2. It always ask for using your location – there is no setting for you to control this and it will keep ask you “Evernote” would like to use your current location ? “
3. You can’t edit the note that havent sync – let you you write a note, click done and wait it for sync, suddenly you think of something, but you can’t edit the note if it never sync
4. Only 1 note list can be view in offline – i understand not all notes is store, but let say if you are viewing on one particular notebook , after you offline , there is no way for you to navigate to other notebook to see what notes you have, it will only pop up “Error communicating with Evernotes server”
5. Lastly there is a bug on pending screen – pending note with no note pending image showing at the same time

So how i plan for using this ? recently i have found my favourite mind map applicaiton , but it is a desktop version of mind map application, that’s why i plan to use dropbox to sync the mindmap,in this way i can view/edit the same set of mindmap every place. For syncing my idea folder to my dropbox folder ( only files that inside dropbox folder will sync) , i have found Sync Files and Folders Outside Your My Dropbox Folder , follow the instruction i have key in

ln -s Documents/ideas Dropbox/ideas

the folder does show in dropbox folder but it seem like the folder didn’t create properly. It keep sync and remove and this are showing my log.

after trying and re-read the lifehacker post again, finally i resolve this by

ln -s ~/Documents/ideas ~/Dropbox/ideas

you need to define the full path of the folder, in order to make it work and now the folder syncing my mindmap properly and i m able to edit it every where ( as long as my netbook and connection is available ).If you haven’t sign up a dropbox account, i suggest you to do it now, it seem like got lots of feature and lots of way to play it, maybe i should write a review soon.

Current it support a lot of hot social network site, include facebook, friendster and some of the hot web2.0 site like youtube, flickr are support as well. Just adding all these account and select importing the profile or sync the profile, it will start pick up the data and fill in the define field.

A good example my avatar is from facebook and by using this i can sync the same avatar accross other site , without upload one by one, imagine one day when you want to change your avatar , you can just do a mass update.

But service like this , i believe a lot of user still concern about privacy and security, which i think this should atomkeep’s main challenge

So the first thing come in my mind is how am i going to move my contact over ? the most easiest way should be just copy all the contact to your sim card and copy over the phone, but this will cause the proper contact card structure gone.

Another easy way should be sync the nokia phone through microsoft outlook, but this only resolve my contact migration from windows mobile to symbian, don’t forget i m using Mac at home, i need a multi sync solutions.

So i decided to give Plaxo a try , who i choose Plaxo ? it actually provide multi sync solutions, it can sync with outlook, outlook express,mac, google , etc and for paid edition you can sync with windows mobile.

So this is how my flow –
Windows Mobile ( old phone ) sync to outlook (office) , outlook sync to plaxo, plaxo sync to Mac address book, Mac address book sync with my nokia phone. The whole process is quite smooth, no problem at all. In future i can just sync any place any where, don’t forget other then sync contact, there is feature to sync calender also, share your calendar across different platforms. hmmmmm plaxo also seem like able to communicate with other web2.0 services, i think i will spend more time to discover it.

My original idea is using Gcal ( Google Calendar ) as the main , i sync my work calendar from office outlook to Gcal, my mobile ( 3G ) and my palm ( WIFI ) sync direct to Gcal too, for home pc i can open to different solution like thunderbird, outlook or some other application to sync with Gcal.

For sync Outlook with Gcal

• gyncit – it’s only $9.99 USD, but i can’t get it work on outlook XP, the trial version is annoying by keep popup the register windows
• syncmycal – $25 USD , working on outlook 2003 & outlook 2007, the trial version not allow scheduler sync and only allow you to sync before 3 and after 3 day appointment – my pick !
• remote calendar – open source solution , working on outlook 2003 only

Since outlook XP got so many limitation, i was thinking maybe i can switch to Thunderbird ? anyway thunderbird support Gcal quite well . But my first problem will be – how am i going to sync with my phone ? Windows Mobile is by default work with outlook, but i found these

Sync Thunderbird with Windows Mobile

• BirdieSync – $19.95 EUR, 21 day free trial
• FinchSync – free but i can’t get it work.

It seem like no choice i better stay on outlook, unless i can get FinchSync work and i can get thunderbird to sync with my palm !

# outlook 2007 support subscribe to ical, which mean you can view the Gcal on your outlook. But its only one way, i was thinking to use Gcaldaemon for outlook 2007 to be able write on Gcal but fail !

Some other Desktop Solutions that work with Gcal

• Calgoo – currently beta, allow to sync with outlook and allow to sync with gcal but it can sync one calendar with this 2 at the same time
• Rainlendar -$15 EUR , if you want to be able to sync with outlook and network share calendar, it seem like can combine of Gcaldaemon with FinchSync to get Windows Mobile and Gcal work together

Some mobile syncing for my phone & pda

• Oggsync – $29.95 yearly , if you need the default calendar mapping and scheduler sync feature, this is for windows mobile only
• GooSync – $19.95 Eur yearly,if you need multiple calendar support, it is something like a web service, which you can configure through the web based, tons of device is supported
• Gcalsync – open source , running on jvm, which i always cannot get it work on my palm & mobile
• Gmobilesync – free , but i can’t get it work also, for windows mobile only
• SyncMyCal Mobile – $25, yes it’s the same tools for outlook sync with Gcal, same condition apply without register or plus minus 3 day appointment can be sync.

Why i like web service is because basically as long as you have connection you can access your service but for sure there are some time you can’t find any connection, or you only able to get connection for a while , thats why sync/synchronization is very important.

The Holy Grail of Synchroinization this post give me lots of idea, too bad i can’t really get Schedule World working and putting all the egg in one basket seem danger. I visual my whole syncing with Gliffy

so what i have ?

Calendar

• Work Calendar ( outlook ) – this will be my main calendar which include all my work related appointment
• Other Calendar (outlook) – this will be multiple calendar on my google calendar, example like my web project calendar, my personal calendar which i don’t like to mix all in one

Bottleneck

• Outlook XP on my working notebook – lots of plugin/software doesn’t work with this version and i can’t avoid since is pre-set by company
• Multiple calendar seem like not support on both windows mobile and palm

Device

• My notebook – running on Windows XP
• My PC – running on Windows XP
• My Phone – Treo 750v running on Windows Mobile
• My PDA – Palm TX running on palm
