I know that this day will coming , when Firefox release weave sync and Google Chrome provide bookmark sync option , I thought Xmarks might be able to sold off or found a new business model , but it seem like they have fail to do so.

There are a quite a number of users can’t accept this and don’t understand why Xmarks never try to go for premium membership approach, I think they should really try this before they heading to the dead pool.

From what I see , there are 2 feature that really make Xmarks stand out from the rest,

• Cross browser & platform syncing , example I can sync my bookmarks when I  using Firefox on windows for my work in office , I can also sync with my Google Chrome on Mac at home.
• Profile sync – I can set what bookmarks to sync with my office profile and what bookmarks to skip for my home profile.

Will Xmarks just close like this ? or there might be some last-minute acquisition within the last 90 days ?

You might find it interesting on this bookmarklets idea but not sure what bookmarklets you should/can use , to give you some ideas i m going to share what are the 8 bookmarklets on my browser.

• Add to RMT – this is the bookmarklet for Remember The Milk , by click on this bookmarklet , i can add any task immediately to a particular list.
• Delicious – this allow me to add the current site i m reading into my social bookmarks account with some tags – del.icio.us .
• Read Later – my instapaper bookmarklet will save the current site i m reading into proper reading format ( without all the themes and ads ) and i can sync it to my ipod touch to read during my morning travel.
• Evernote – the evernote web clip bookmarklets, it allow me to save the text i been selected , the web site url or the full page content into my evernote account.
• Posterous – one of the latest popular microblogging service, original it only allow posting content by email, the bookmarklet is a latest feature , i been using to blog about my side project progress.
• Tumblr – another popular micro blogging service, the bookmarklets allow you to posting your content with a few click, currenly using this to some personal micro blogging.
• IMK – the quick blog bookmarklet for this blog , original i m using this to post aside on this blog, but i have stop using for a while because the aside plugin that i m using not compatible with latest  wordpress.
• Readability – i have just blog about this yesterday , it helps for reading online, by just one click the content will be display in nice format to read.

Using it for my own reminder is quite helpful for my productivity , the only problem is these inbox link cannot be remove. You can remove the for:username tag, but the bookmark will be still remain in your inbox until today. Delicious has just announce that you can remove the bookmarks in your inbox now and there are some other feature release with this upgrade.

This feature allow remove bookmark one by one or you can bulk edit your bookmark, after you remove these bookmark from inbox, don’t worry it will still show under your bookmarks tab. Seem like i can continue to dump link in my inbox, if you have some informative links share with me please.

after i did some clean up, which visit about 20+ link and remove about 30+ link, suddenly i getting “You been blocked” message. Geez, i didn’t use any 3rd party tools, i m using the web base apps itself yet i m getting blocked.

hmmm it’s been 10 min and it still haven’t unblock, geez if like this please give me a mass edit tools which can let me handle my links easily.

When i doing my “fast read” those link which worth a proper read or web service which is interesting , i will need to keep it, most of the time i just drag and put on my bookmarks toolbar, it’s a bit meaning less to keep it direct to del.icio.us because some just require once of reading and some might be just a piece of junk after you read properly.

Because of this i digging out some read later serice, which allow you to save now and read it later, one of the problem i facing is the bookmarklet for all these service is not working , because i m using the no script addon.

Instantpaper – simple and straightfoward , one of the highlight is provide rss feed for your bookmark

laterloop – nice & clean interface, having both firefox and IE extension, offline reading is make use of scrapbook plugin. there is “Star” feature

readbag – feature full service, it include daily digest, google gear support, firefox extension, greasemonkey for google reader etc, but i find it a  bit slow compare to the rest.

my vote ? going to Laterloop because as i say i using no script addon, most of the site will have javascript disable, bookmarklet won’t work, so Instantpaper out for sure, the remaining 2 both have firefox addon to support, but only Laterloop‘s firefox addon support firefox 3 RC1, thats why it become my choice.

p/s there is a read it later firefox addon special for this, but during i blog about this , it seem like down , give it a try if you don’t like all these 3 serivce, Read It Later
