Inbox Preview and 3 alternatives

Gmail just release inbox preview this new feature for user who are on slow connection.

What this feature does is displaying a screen shot of your inbox when you are waiting on the loading screen.The screen shot will contain of latest 10 emails , this actually help you to save your time , if you are just want to make sure receiving certain email on slow connection.

Inbox Preview seem like a wonderful feature, but i going to suggest 3 alterantives.

Netvibes – using this personal dashboard to update what are the latest email you recieve in your gmail account.
Gmail Manager – using this firefox add on to keep track your latest email.
Digsby – using this IM client to monitor your gmail account.

Fixed my feed image issue on Netvibes

Since i launch twitter little star last month, i facing quite a few technical problem, one of the strange problem is although i can see image showing nicely in my google reader , but when i view it in netvibes feed view, the image went missing. Base on the feed view , it seem like there are images but the images can’t display.

After doing some digging and debugging, finally i found out what’s wrong, the main reason of this is because of the theme i using, actually make use of timthumb this library to display resize image on the fly, when i embeded the image into the feed, i actually make use of image url that using this library also.So i change the feed code again and embeded the actual image url.

the feed now is display with image nicely in my netvibes feed block.

Netvibes , my personal dashboard

I been using netvibes as my startup page since they launch , it should be the most frequent open page on my browser, other then my browser homepage which is a blank page by default. After all the social media and social dashboard buzz, i tweak some of my netvibes setting this morning, make it a both productivty and social dashboard.

I have masked some of the important information, so these are the module/feed on my first page.

Facebook Widget – display some of my facebook info , i can see most of my facebook related info here, include how many friend requests are pending, how many message in my inbox and how many event invite i have.
Facebook Status Feed – following my friend status message
Gmail Module – display my latest email , currently flood with all kind of twitter follower email.
Twitter Search Module – dispaly my mentions
Remember The Milk Module – display all my task and todo list
iCal Module – display my calendar event.

Do you have a dashboard ? what do you have on your dashboard ?

7 new feed look on netvibes

In case you are not a netvibes user, they recently have lots of new update and i quite like some of these update, i going to share one of their new update that i like but not using much – the new feed view. There are total 7 ( 8 but 1 of the view is repeat with different color only ) feed view for any feed that you put in netvibes.

Normal View – i use this a lot

Ticker – for reminder/alert/time?

Slideshow

Magazine View

Headline View

Classey Slide Show View

Quick Detail view

anyone customize their own public page by mixing with these new feed view ?

Feedback through twitter

A few day ago, i was just rant on Netvibes service, my problem is on my Netvibes, i have some of the feeds that i don’t want to subscribe in my google reader, i want these feed display on Netvibes only, i read it when i free and don’t want to keep follow in my google reader, but the problem is the feeds that i mark as read often become unread again, which some time is quite confuse do i read it or not.

so i rant about this on my twitter.

Today i saw there are new reply to my twitter

i m really impress, i never thought that netvibes will actually keep track of tweet about their own brand in twitter.Firstly i didn’t follow netvibes_help twitter, second is not easy to spot some one tweet just like that, did a search on people that talk about netvibes on twitter search and you know what i mean , so to show my support, i going to follow @netvibes. Good Job , Netvibes.
