Will you Switch to Posterous?

Posterous was launching a switching initiative last week, which trying to get users switch to Posterous from different services by easy migration tools.There are different opinions about these aggressive “switching initiative”, some say Posterous is in danger to launch a massive campaign like this and some say kudos to these aggressive campaign.

It’s been 7 day since the switching started , so far there are 4 service importer launched , although Posterous did promise an importer per day , but it seem like a bit difficult to keep up.Another interesting thing that i find out is seem like there are more respond for Tumblr importer base on the number of Facebook Likes, Retweet and comments.

So how easy are these importer ? I did a test on my Tumblr blog , what I need to do is just supply my email and my Tumblr blog address and the Tumblr to Posterous importer will do the rest of work, once the importing ready , there will be an email tell you. All the imported Post will be categorize as imported and you can choose to merge with your existing Posterous Blog or import to a new standalone blog.

So will you switch to Posterous ? if you are , why ?

The recent changes of Tumblr

It seem like Tumblr has quite a few upgrade recently , i find it a bit strange is because it’s been quiet for tumblr during begining of the year, but now is like every few week there are something new, it’s that pressure from their competitor – posterous ? since most the user is comparing between this two services. Let’s take a look what are the recently changes.

first they release Tumblarity , which is stat info of your acitvity in tumblr, this remind me of stats in facebook public profile page which keep track the user engagement.

Inspired by wefollow – the twitter user directory , tumblr release their own directory too.

One of the biggest problem of posterous is without customize theme, tumblr now allow user to submit their own them for other user to use, this enhance the tumblr theme feature.

lastly tumblr just release bookmarklet with new theme, i do like this new design.It’s good to see the dev team actively create something new, because of this i created a tumblelog too.

Now day every website look the same

I just happen to visit tumblr just now , it seem like their home page just redesign ? i m not sure when did this happen , but most likely won’t be more then 1 or 2week, i happen to visit the site quite often recently.

If you ask me what i think about this new design ? i would say it looks familiar to me , it seem like everywhere.

oh , it start from twitter ?

then follow by facebook redesign ?

and friend feed their new beta

I miss the old day when everyone is trying to be unique and different, now is more once the formula is proven, everyone just copy it.
