Blog Importer [Day 2 - 30DSIC]

This is the 2nd post for my 30 days squaresapce iphone challenge (30DSIC) , i will start talking on something simple first, since i m still quite a newbie on squarespace.

One of the important feature on squarespace is the blog importer. It actually allow other blog engine user to port their post over to squarespace, having this feature will attract users that get bored on their blog engine or users that simply looking for hosted solution.

The blog importer support 3 blog engine

for blogger/blogspot , just provide your user name and password and you will allow to import the post directly from your blog
for movabletype/typepad , you need to provide the txt file which i believe is the standard export of movabletype/typepad
lastly for my favourite wordpress, the export xml is supported

For wordpress user, export your wordpress blog post through Tools->export->download export file, upload this export file and squarespace will import all these post, the importing speed will base on the site load. Once your blog post is imported , take a look Dashboard->manage post on squarespace, you might not seeing anything at first , clicking on the within Journal , you should be able to see another category call “Imported Data” , select this cateogry and you should be seeing all your post.

Navigate through Structure->Architecture, you can see that your Imported Data Journal is not enable, you can enable it here or doing some other configuration. What suprize me is it seem like the import process, imported all the category , tags and even feed url.
