Delicious and Yahoo ID

If you going to register a new account on delicious , my favourite social bookmarking service, you will realize that you need a yahoo account. After Yahoo accquired Delicious for few year , finally they start to merge the account with their own Yahoo ID , the last service that going through the similar path will be flickr.

I m not a Yahoo Fan, this might be the main reason i hate to see this merge, my current yahoo id is use for YIM ( company using this as official communication tools ) and for my flickr account only, both delicious and flickr founder leaving Yahoo make me feel even more disappoint. I still remember during the period where Flickr account merging with Yahoo account,lots of issue happen and there are complaints everywhere, there are even user refuse to merge and leave the service. I m not sure after this few year, the same kind of merging will be causing any issue or not , but if can i really prefer to have stand alone account for both service, in stead of having a yahoo account.

Maybe i should consider pinboard ?

Yahoo meme is the new tumblr

Not long ago , Yahoo is launching a secret weapon call “Yahoo meme” that targeting the micro blogging/statusphere , i believe this is more aimining on tumblr style of service, in stead of status base service like twitter. I manage to get the invite and beta testing the service, just want to share some of my view.

As you can see the dashboard interface, you are allow to post 4 type of media , there are follow feature for social purpose and repost feature for reblogging, one of the important feature that tumblr is missing will be the comment feature. Yahoo meme weakness will be the permalink of post, currently the url strucuture is not really SEO friendly. There are no option for you to customize your meme currently, but there are some very clean looking theme available for you to change.

You got Yslow , i have Page Speed

The first impression about Google’s Page Speed after i found out on Google Code Blog is – This is aiming on Yahoo YSlow. Both are extend from Firebug , both are use it to observe / monitor your site performance and both are trying to be a benchmark for developers.

these are the test from page speed after analyze my blog, i should do some tweak after wordpress 2.8 release to improve this.

Yahoo, is preferred content or language?

This morning quite a few famous web2.0 blog mention about the new Yahoo Calendar , as usual i m surfing around to see how to get into this new calendar to play around with it , my yahoo calendar are still showing the the classic mode, finally i found the new calendar landing page from downloadsquad.

I happily click on the start button and it show me a cute page with not so cute content

what does it mean “doesn’t work in my language” ? i don’t recall there is a setting for language in account, so i drill into my account page and change the first field which i think causing this problem – Preferred Content, i change it from Yahoo! Singapore to Yahoo! US

then visit the landing page again , yeah this time no more silly cute doggie picture. But it inform me that i will only get into the waiting list. Argh in the end i still have to wait.

Bad Yahoo Auction Experience

I have bad experience on Yahoo Auction Today, It is not because of the system but more like human problem. This was my second time trying to bid something on Yahoo Auction , my first time lose because the price been pushed is too high, today the second time i won the bid but Seller Not Honor MY Bid

I private message the seller in some forum, found him through the mobile number he leave on the auction page, his answer was “Will not consider any amount less than 1k”, i was like huh ? then what for putting starting price as $900 ? Yahoo Auction just log down my bid cancelled without telling is the seller which remove my bid …

Bah ! i m angry .. but i can’t do anything , this is my answer to him

Writely Migration

I blog about Google Office time is coming around march, during that time Writely just become part of Google , after that writely has been quiet for a period, its stop for new user sign up too … until around august , the invitation is start again

Few day ago, i getting email from writely ( i using hotmail to register during that time ) mention they will create a google account for me to for migration of my current account, since i have a google account already, this will just make duplicate account for me, so i send a ticket to ask for solution, i getting a reply next day mention there is solution for moving btw account .. and few more day later this feature is there ..

when you login your writely account, you can choose if you use other email with writely, you can just move all your document over and its not only limit to one way, you can move your document from other account also

Its good to have both way migration , so here you go continue to merge my 2 account ..

actually i don’t really use writely that often but after this incident, i m thinking to give it more try, this recall me during flickr and Yahoo account merge, why is it so many complaint ? maybe flickr on Google’s hand is better then on Yahoo ?

add a dot for your yahoo email

if you have an yahoo account, now you are allow to add a secondary email with the new dot effect. What is new dot effect ? if you use gmail before you should know that for gmail, your username can be xxx.xxx @ gmail.com .. ya same thing now for yahoo mail you are allow to have xxx.xxx@yahoo.com

so better get the “dot” address now because there are people mad rush for it , i try to get open.source@yahoo.com , but it seem like taken ..

so i just getting because i already have

Free Widgets on Windows

Saw this news about Yahoo said to acquire konfabulator two day ago, never really pay attention on it, while suring around digg , saw lots of related news then i think ok la give it a try , then i just know Konfabulator, it’s the original version of Apple’s Dashboard, those small small cute cute widgets (mini application) is all running on this program and the best part is yahoo offer this for FREE ! you can find more widgets here

Do you able to guess what these widgets for ? itune remote, battery icon ( for notebook) , Wifi detector, CPU usage detector, memory usage ..

The analog clock with the weather report .. too bad only US weather , the digital clock with the calender..

after installation some widgets appear
