What is Wedoist ?

Think about Todoist with Team collaboration feature and added project management feature.

Wedoist Features

Wedoist allow you to manage your project in very simple way by 2 things , the status and task, there will be rivers of status and task, which allow you and your team collaborate on projects, when you having a status like ” how should i design the user interface for sign-up page” , your team-mate can just comment on it to give you some ideas. When your team-mate complete a task , you can see it and follow-up.

Other then the status and task , Wedoist is having group live chat feature, I haven’t try it yet in the process flow but I guess this feature come in handy when you trying to discuss with your team mate who to assign the task on the fly.

Email Digest seem like a standard thing in the latest web applications , there is this Daily Digest feature on Wedoist which alert you about activities of each projects. It will send you 8am in the morning , if there is activity happen previous day.

Price ? Free

Wedoist adopt the freemium business model just like Todoist , you only pay when you need something added , out of the basic service. For Wedoist , you can just upgrade to the Pro Account for $5 per month , in return of  5GB of the file storage  and change the style with your own logos and colors.

How you can make use of the file storage ? when you create a task , you can create with attachment, let’s say you can attach a screenshot  to get the developer fixed some bug on IE browser ?

There are no restriction on users, tasks and lists for both Free and Pro account. It sounds like a good deal to me.

Things to improve

Since it just launch not long ago, there are some thing to improve.

• a consolidate dashboard to show everything from different project
• a calendar
• allow to set the timing of digest email

so this is the answer from Google, Task !

after playing this task feature for a while , these are some of my opinion.

• swap betweet task list is difficult , it should be more user friendly
• create task limited by task list that you are currently in, you can’t view the task list A but create a task for task list B at the same time
• the indent/unindent feature seem like a bit buggy, some time it doesn’t respond at all
• no matter how many task list you have, all tie to 1 task calendar
• date field is not text base, i prefer something like remember the milk where i can just input “next week” and it auto translate into proper date

if you already using these service, thats will be good since you can use it with your gcal, if you haven’t try this 2 service before , i will recommend you to give it a try, both are good GTD service.

this will be how it looks after integrated, what can i do after integrated my todo list with my gcal ? its a bit simple for Toodledo which allow you add new task and see the task that due on the particular date ( which mean you can’t see those without due day task )

for Remember The Milk shows more complete feature, which include map feature and of course task that without due date is showing.

sound interesting ? you might think that this might be difficult to integrate, Nope this is very simple, all done in one click

• It allow you to create different list , each list can be either Task or Bulleted
• You can send the list to your self or contact by email or SMS
• You can receive items from email or SMS to add on your list
• you can move the items from list A to list B ( someone choose this service because of this reason)
• there are a few pre defined font size and layout for you to choose

I would say this will be good List Management but not task management, there are no API and no export features ( ical, xml, rss all missing ), which i think Gubb might need to improve on these.

p/s Calendar part for sure i will go back to google calendar, 30boxes as backup, for email part heard that Thunderbird2.0 is great

• Netvibes is good for start up page, but i don’t really like the their notes and todo list feature, thats why it remain as my starting portal
• Palm Desktop is for my Palm TX, its portable but is not online, its suitable for me to view, i still hate to do input on Palm.
• Testing before rememberthemilk ( might revisit this one ) and tadalist not my cup of tea

then i accidently saw Wallnote , it seem like meet some of my requirement, its a web base service , it allow to use on desktop ( by using active desktop ) , have some nice color combination , user friendly GUI and you can even send some of your notes and todo to other user for the social purpose

Other then these feature , Wallnote seem getting quite a lot of attention because Solutionwatch is actually mention out of the top 5 todo list, Wallnote is the one he feel comfortable to use it, but at the end i think i still give up on it

• its using Site5 ( share hosting i think ) , if you happen that visit webhostingtalk , you will found lots of complain about Site5 , hosting my todo and notes there ? no thx
• its too online dependent already, if you not online, your active desktop can’t show your todo and notes ( which i understand how active desktop work, but can’t just build it as able to syn with it when get back online ? )
• the ajax respone is slightly slow, it might be related to the first issue
• maybe rss feature will be a plus ?

p/s it might be a bit unfair if compare the offline feature with other online todo list, but my point is since you got this feature , i will expect something on this feature and i give it a miss not because this service sux, its just that it doesn’t meet my need.
