Just saw this piece of news in my rss reader, cPanel 11 is release soon !

Base on the schedule , it seem like the stable release will be around June , i think it still no1 control panel in the market, i wonder will this release causing big impact in the hosting industry ?

You can try the demo or understand cPanel11’s new features , cPanel is quite a powerful tools for most of the user but for me ? i would prefer webmin which use lesser resource and allow me to learn more about server.

Mysql Backup for VPS

Doing some research tonight and finally setup a script to backup all the mysql database on my vps, just to share some of the solution out there

Mysqldumper – it act like a script which require you to install, work with both php and pear
Automysqlbackup – a shell script that allow to backup all database, one file with lots of option to customize
MyCpanelBackup – a desktop program that allow you to backup your database locally
A Smarter Backup Script – a backup script that sharing among cpanel forum

what i doing now is using Automysqlbackup to backup the database daily then rsync to my backup server, account backup might need some tweak also ..

the P trademark

I never know that you have to write cpanel as “cPanel” , the capitalization is some sort of trademark, until i receive the email from cPanel trademark team. Of course i clean up my blog and change it all to “cPanel”.

but i think these trademark team people should be quite busy … why ?

as you can see, the google adsense that show beside the email, all the cPanel word is not correctly reflected, in case you are reading this , change it before the trademark team email you …

Blank Screen after login cPanel ?

I have just experience that, after login cPanel securely ( https:// ) , my left hand menu bar and my center content is blank !

i try to restart the cPanel service and getting this error

Starting cPanel ssl services: [FAILED]

after doing some research on the web, i found the solution

first “ps aux | grep stunnel” to find out stunnel process ( checking what version you have at the same time )
someone suggest try to kill the process, but i didn’t i m thinking just get the restart work should be the same
edit this file /usr/local/cpanel/etc/init/stopstunnel
you should see that a list of command but without your version of stunnel, so add this in system(“/scripts/ckillall -9 stunnel-4.15local”);
restart cpanel service, by now should be restart sucessful
one last step which some of the support never mention, reset your server ssl ( without doing this, i still keep getting blank screen )

Goodbye VHCS , Hello cPanel

Finally i go back to a reseller again in stead of a server owner, i been consider about this quite some time, the first time it appear in my mind is about 3 month ago .. but i just give up the idea
Second time its about 2 week ago, the reason behide of this is my server which using VHCS been hacked , lucky one of the client remind and some action been done to fix this issue .. , i know myself not a server admin and i wont become one also, so i better let other people take care of the admin part and i concentrate on other area.

after one year plus i m back to cPanel again .. i still not use to cPanel setup but at least i no need to worry so much already, so far one of the thing that i really not comfortable is , i don’t have shell access for all the client ..
