Other Inbox is one of the demo during TechCrunch50 , i manage to grab the beta invite and give it a try, What Other Inbox does is like slogan on their blog - the cure of email overload.

What you getting after complete the registration is getting an Other Inbox domain name, example for mine is imknight.otherinbox.com, by having this domain, you can put in any name without any special configuration and it work, example you can use facebook@imknight.otherbox.com for facebook , plurk@imknight.otherbox.com for plurk.

Currently i think only Gmail have this similar feature. you might think what’s the point to have all these trouble ? one of the thing you can do by using this unique name feature, you can track down who actually selling your email address to those spammer.

Another interesting feature it will actually organize the email into folder by brand, i wonder is it base on the domain ? but i understand some of the service sending out their support email other different domain, wonder will it take care of this ?

Some other useful setting like allow to send notification or foward all the email that receive by otherinbox domain to your personal email account, export exmail and allow to configure additional domain.otherbox.com, all these sounds very promising.

One of the interesting is the icons on top , still under development,i wonder what other suprize will we getting when it go live ? i really look foward the calendar feature.

Try out Soocial Hassle Free Contacts

Soocial is one of the latest web2.0 contact management system, which allow you to sync your contact from different connection into one stop. Soocial invitation has been sit in my inbox for some time, finally i squeeze out some time today and give it a try.

Since it still in beta, a lot of feature is still coming soon and i kind of agree some of coming soon feature, will be the killer point. Currently it provide 4 connection for you to sync with your contact

Phone ( support some of the mobile phone)
Macs ( there is a OSX agent do the job )
Gmail
Highrise

there is an additional lame facebook application ( soocial self claim ) which i think really meaningless, it act as a interface only in facebook, which you still need to manually add in contact by contact, i don’t really see the point of it.

One thing to highlight which i think is quite a good feature, it will send you a copy of your gmail contact before it start sync with your gmail account

anyway it still in early stage, until it have more connection and able to sync accross differet platform, then it might worth more attention.

I m totally not understand why it need to put a windows construction logo ? on a mac accessories web site, the site is call Mac Friends , creativity ? a way to get attention ? or just purely can’t find another under construction logo ?

My current host - Webfaction

I been using webfaction as my hosting for a few month, after i move out from knownhost VPS. So far most of the thing are ok at webfaction , but i feel that PHP is not their main focus, thats why they don’t pay that much of attention on PHP.

If you are a ruby developer that work on ruby on rails or a python developer that work on django, webfaction will be one of best share hosting choice for you, but if you just like me which is more toward to PHP application, you might need to consider. So far i having 2 issue at webfaction , one is i got time out some time which been explain is because the php script execute longer then the permit time, another issue is that eaccelator is not installed.

The Last good thing that i want to mention about this host , is their customize control panel , which split the site into 3 part, the application, the domain and the web site, the application is where put your application, the domain is where you control what domain you have, what subdomain you want to create and the last part the web site is which domain connect to which application.The benefit of this structure is , you can have 1 code base ( application ) and pointing by different domain, a multi site structure can be done easily.

Anyway i m looking for another host which is focus on php , maybe a litespeed host , so that my webfaction account can be my dev account and as a backup for my php accont.

Google Gears For Safari is not enough

Some time ago, Google already realease the beta of Google Gears on Safari and it seem now is a official release. But what i think is google gears for safari is nothing special, if only this google gears can work on iphone/ipod touch’s safari, then it can show it’s actual value.

I have try to install it on my ipod touch during beta release, but it seem like it will differentship Safari on iphone/ipod touch or desktop/notebook, it will mention that browser is not support for google gears.

If google gears can be run on iphone safari, example you can run rememberthemilk offline on it,this should help if they don’t have time to create the native iphone apps yet.

Better experience

I blog about my unpleasant experience on monday, finally today i getting some better experience.

They call me on 9am + in the morning and told me i can collect my keyboard already, the guy even remind me the shop open after 11am, +1
On time, i thought i can only collect on thursday or friday and maybe i even need to call them myself to check is it ready, but nope ! from the day i send until the day i collect , is total 3 day. +1
This time when i reach the shop, they are using the number calling device ! yeah +1
the service staff explain to me that it is 1 to 1 exchange , but they need to send my keyboard to apple in order to get a replacement one, thats the main reason why it take 3~5 biz day. +1
the servie staff connect the keyboard and let me test it, when i have some doubt , he even explain to me why the keyboard behave like that. +1

overall this time i have a much better experience, kudos for today service staff !

Google Chrome Crossover Mac

Yeah, i think for sure there a quite a lot of user wish that Google Chrome coming to Mac or Linux, the guys over codeweavers have release the port over Chromium web browser free of charge.

I download it and test on my imac, the initial startup is a bit slow and it seem like it render website with ugly font. Other then this when my mouse is moving around the browser, it feel like a bit wierd, like a bit lagging.

anyway using not more then 10 min and i m getting this , port over for Mac? no thanks , i think i will wait for it release for mac.

WordPress Plugin Competition Top Winner - Comment Remix

So what make this plugin become the winner ? i think it not only spice up the comments part , it also consider a powerful plugin if you using wordpress as a CMS, the plugin winner - Comment Remix.

So what this plugin does, it added 2 option on your comments, which is Reply and Quote, sounds simple right ? But this actually solve one of the biggest comment issue on wordpress, when there are alot of comments on a post, it is very difficult to keep track who reply to who, or who quote from who.

if you click on reply or quote, all thes comments will appear in the wordpress admin comments page , under In Need To Reply Tab. By looking at list of comments, you can decide what to do on these comments, inline reply, ignore it or spam it ! if you got lots of comments to check, this plugin will improve your productivity on managing comments.

Even sidebar widget is ready for use, another plus point for this plugin.

the last thing i want to talk about is the option page, it allow you to customize a lot of thing related to this plugin, you change the word represent it, in stead of call it “Reply” or “Quote” , you can change it to your own term, allow the comments to be tagged and some other extra feature.

You using wordpress as a content management system for your site ? then i recommend you to get this plugin to add extra interaction for your site.

WordPress Plugin Competition Winners

I think the winners list is out for a few day , i just tested out these plugin on my testing wordpress install.

Vote2publish - too bad this plugin seem like only working on Wordpress MU , i tested a few time on my single testing wordpress but it only show me blank after i activate it.

WP Wall - i think Wall this idea is start from facebook ? it’s something like shoutbox , which allow you to leave a message on your friend’s wall ( which hang on their blog ), there are a lot of options for you to configure, example who allow to post, auto refresh the wall and even provide rss feed for wall.

WP Easy Uploader - a powerful uploader which are special cater for wordpress, it include the feature that what you going to upload will be a plugin or theme, so that it will auto upload to the correct path and unzip it , because it support a lot of zip extension (zip, tar, gz, tar.gz, tgz, tar.bz2, and tbz)

Manageble - what manageble does is allow you to mass edit your post/page with inline editing, almost most of the field can be edit and it build into the defaul manage post interface.

I going to blog about the top winner Comment Remix in part 2, this is getting too long.
