Two week ago , since i know Gallery2 is release , i was thinking to give it a try , base on the alpha version that i test , it seem like a very good gallery script ..
Yesterday i finally take out some time for it, not only to test the Gallery2 and i need to bridge it with Wordpress , thats where Wordpress-Gallery2 come in.
My opinion is this script seem a bit tough to setup, i did spend quite some time to setup it and make it work properly, that include help my bro upgrade from gallery2 alpha version to this final version
These are some of the problem
- mod_rewrite for gallery cannot enable, else it will cause the image unable to view on your blog
- Dot Apple Image Frame is missing
- there are a small coding bug on gallery2 which ucase the image frame doesn’t display properly under firefox
Solution
- mod_rewrite issue seem give up by the coder of Wordpress-Gallery2 , so no slution for now , i did take a look of the code wonder can this fix by merge both wordpress and gallery2 .htaccess file, havent try yet
- for Dot Apple Image Frame Issue
- add <option label="Dot Apple" value="dotapple"<?php if (‘dotapple’ == $g2_option['g2_sidebarblockimageFrame']){echo " selected";}?>>Dot Apple</option> in g2adminimage.php and g2adminsidebar.php of Wordpress-Gallery2
- line 50 for g2adminimage.php and line 110 for g2adminsidebar.php
You can see the gallery block on my brother blog or the full gallery embedin blog at the gallery page
Well…you could try using iimage-gallery plugin. I’ve set it up before. It’s really flexible though tricky to get the hang off. You could try it out and see if it suit your taste.
my opinion is gallery2 is quite a good product .. but it depends how you use it for blog ?
if you just want to use it for insert some image for blog entry, that a bit wasted, using some other image feature can did this, example i using tinymce with the ibrowser for image purpose.
but if you are working on photoblog or your blog is full of image, gallery2 will be quite a good solution for this
